What is your price? How much will it cost to clean my home? Please recommend a cleaning company that won’t cost an arm and a leg…. The thing is, just as with anything we purchase, we get what we pay for. If we want something flimsy and more disposable, we won’t have to pay a lot. If we want something that will last, that we can count on, we will have to pay more. It’s that simple. But also, when you pay more, you expect more.
What I have learned over the past 18 years is that the more negative experiences a person or a family has had with a cleaning service – whether solo or company – the less they are willing to pay each time they try a new one. This is SO reasonable….I felt the same exact way when I had to pay to try out several professional services, such as marketing companies, bookkeeping services, and payroll services. Sometimes I felt like I was paying to learn what I did NOT want in that service. It sucks, but it is effective because it teaches us which questions to ask and which red flags to recognize, right?
And if that’s not enough, then you finally find that reputable company that is properly staffed and trained and vetted and insured and has professionally trained cleaning technicians…but how much does all that cost? Since we are working with amazing humans who have homes and children and reliable vehicles and don’t want to work a second job, they need to be paid WELL because YOU want to see consistency, but I want that more than anything because turnover is exhausting and expensive. It is best to do it right the first time, right? That is the goal!
Then there is dynamic pricing! What is that, you ask? That is when a company is willing to lower its profit, but not its payroll, in order to fill the schedule. This is so that the team they worked so hard to find and train and build can stay busy, make the amount of money they were promised, and not have to wake up one day with nothing on their schedule. So that could mean a nicely discounted price for an occasional clean or a first-time deep clean with a commitment to future recurring cleans. Sometimes that discount is so significant that in the not-so-small print, you might even find that you may have this discount with the caveat that you maintain the service for a certain number of future cleanings, and if you cancel before that time, you will be charged for that initial discount. It’s probably the only “contractual” thing you would come across with a locally owned and reputable cleaning service.
After all, the goal is to only have clients who are happy, look forward to the service, and appreciate the results. If it’s not a happy union, then there is no sense in continuing, right? Life is too short for all of us! So, you see, pricing is not always black and white in small businesses….there can be some give and take, but not if it comes out of the payroll that provides for the people who are the frontline of the company, the people who proudly wear the uniform and go above and beyond to make every client feel valued as they strive to provide value. Be ready to have the conversations, ask the questions – but also know that employees are the greatest and most appreciated resource any small business has, and if you are not willing to pay for that value, it will likely not be a good fit.
What’s the Real Cost of Quality Cleaning?
We all want great service without overpaying. It’s natural to ask, “What will it cost to clean my home?” or “Can you recommend a company that won’t break the bank?” These are smart questions.
Like anything worth investing in, quality cleaning comes at a price. Paying more means you’re investing in trained professionals, reliable scheduling, and consistent results you can count on.
After 18 years in this business, I’ve seen how past bad experiences make people hesitant to pay for quality. I get it—I’ve been there with other professional services myself. Sometimes you pay just to learn what you don’t want. It’s frustrating, but those experiences teach us what questions to ask and what red flags to watch for.
Eventually, you find a reputable company—one that is properly staffed with w2 employees, trained, vetted, and insured. But what does that cost? Because we work with amazing people who have families, reliable vehicles, and pride in their work, and the desire to work only ONE job, they need to be paid well. Paying well means less turnover, more consistency, and better service for you. It’s worth it to get it right the first time.
You might also hear about dynamic pricing. That’s when a company lowers its profit margin—not payroll—to fill the schedule. This helps keep your trusted team busy and earning what they deserve. Sometimes that means a discounted price for a first-time deep clean or occasional service, often with a simple commitment to continue recurring cleanings. If you cancel early, you may be charged back for the discount. This is usually the only “contract” you’ll see with a local, reputable cleaning company.
At the end of the day, the goal is a happy partnership. We want clients who look forward to their cleanings and appreciate the results. If it’s not a good fit, there’s no sense in continuing—life is too short for that.
Pricing isn’t always black and white in small businesses. There’s some give and take, but investing in a skilled, dedicated team means you get consistent quality and peace of mind. When you choose a company that values its people as much as its clients, you’re choosing a partnership built on trust and care.
We’re proud to provide that kind of service every day. If you’re ready for a cleaning experience that truly shines, we’re ready to deliver.
