While we may not want to admit it, summer is winding down and fall is going to be here soon. When picturing your favorite fall activities, there’s usually a backdrop of beautiful fall foliage. It’s fall’s trademark. We plan trips around it, scope out family photo opportunities based on it and embrace it as one of the best, but shortest seasons we have in MN.

We all know about Maples & Mums stealing the show. Here are some of our favorite “other” plants that shine in the fall and help put together the autumn backdrop that we look forward to.

One of the keys to great planting design is timing. A full season design will have waves of interest from spring & summer blooms, fall foliage and flower color and winter greens and dormant foliage. A mix of bloom times, textures and colors will help your yard stay looking intentional and interesting all season long.
