Your body already knows how to heal. Sometimes it just needs a little help getting started in the right place at the right time. That is exactly what PRF does.
At TLC Dental Wellness, when we remove a tooth, we do not just close up the site and send you home with our fingers crossed. We use your own blood to help your body heal faster, cleaner, and stronger, right from day one.
So What Is PRF?
PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin. Let us break that down without the fancy words. Your blood has four main parts. Red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. The platelets and a protein called fibrin are your body’s natural repair crew. When you get a cut, fibrin forms a net and platelets rush in to start the healing process. PRF simply concentrates those workers and puts them right where the healing needs to happen.
Here is the part we love most about it: there are zero additives. No anticoagulants. No chemicals. No foreign substances. Just your own blood, spun down, and placed back into your body exactly where it needs to go. Taking care of what God already gave you is always the best option.
How We Do It, Right Here In Our Office
We draw a small amount of your blood the same day as your procedure. We spin it in our in-house centrifuge right here at TLC Dental Wellness. In just a few minutes, that blood separates into layers, and we collect the PRF layer, which forms a gel-like membrane made entirely of your own fibrin and platelets.
That membrane goes directly into your extraction socket before we close the site.
Why This Matters For Extraction Healing
When a tooth is removed, that empty socket needs to fill in with healthy tissue and bone. The window right after the extraction is critical. PRF supports that window by:
- Slowly releasing growth factors into the site over several days, not just the first hour • Physically protecting the blood clot so it can do its job without being disturbed
- Reducing swelling and post-procedure discomfort
- Lowering the risk of dry socket, one of the most painful things that can happen after an extraction
- Preserving the bone in the socket
Because PRF is your own tissue, there is no risk of rejection. Your body recognizes it immediately and gets to work.
PRF Is Biological Dentistry in Action
At TLC Dental Wellness, we do not believe in doing things the generic way just because it is easier. PRF fits perfectly into our whole-body philosophy because it works with your biology, not around it. No shortcuts. No fillers. Just your own body, supported and set up to succeed.
