Welcome Back!
The Schools of St. Mary excitedly welcomed students back to campus last month for the start of the 2026-2027 school year! For St. Mary’s Elementary School, this marks the 101st school year, and the High School is now in its 77th year, both schools having recently celebrated major milestones in their incredible influence on the Manhasset community and surrounding towns, forming generations of saints!
At the Elementary and Middle Schools, students were greeted outside by their teachers, principal Mrs. Kemp, Assistant Principal Mrs. Tripi, and Fr. Stephen Rooney, School Chaplain. The energy and positivity of a new school year was undeniable and extended into the Meet the Teacher Nights where parents got a chance to see their children’s classrooms, hear from the teachers, and get a sense of the expectations. As always, the teacher-parent connection is so important for student success, not just academically but in order to build the best foundation of faith possible.
For St. Mary’s High School, the year began with a special welcome for the freshman class, giving the newest Gaels an opportunity to become familiar with the school community, meet their teachers and classmates, and begin their transition to high school.
The Senior Shepherds played an important role in welcoming and mentoring the freshmen throughout orientation. They shared their own experiences and offered advice on academics, faith, athletics, extracurricular involvement, and making the most of their time at St. Mary’s.
The entire student body then returned to campus, bringing the halls of St. Mary’s back to life. Students reconnected with friends and teachers, met new members of our faculty and staff, and began another year rooted in faith, academic excellence, service, and community. The camaraderie that builds in these early days following “Freshman Camp” which is mostly led by the students themselves, has a lasting impact on the strong sense of community that students, their families, and the teachers live out and is a hallmark of the St. Mary’s High School experience.
Believe it or not, enrollment for the 2027-2028 school year is already open. Families seeking a faith-filled education that nurtures academic excellence, character development, and a lifelong love of learning are encouraged to consider St. Mary’s. From our youngest learners in Nursery through our graduating eighth graders, and all the way through the High School, students are challenged to grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially in a caring and supportive community. We invite prospective families to discover what makes St. Mary’s a place where students thrive and are prepared for success in all of their academic and life pursuits.
