Fetch Park City: Meet Tony and Milo

When Tony Saylor said he had gotten a new dog, I was not expecting him to fit in the palm of his hand. Milo is oh-so-very small, and he has large paws to fill. He’s a nine-month-old Yorkie and full of pizzazz. He came to Fetch Cares after an injury to his front leg. Milo’s previous owners were unable to move forward with the surgery; however, his veterinarian team at MedVet knew who to call. Once he made a full recovery with Fetch, Tony thought it would be a funny idea to deliver Milo to his wife as a Mother’s Day gift. She didn’t find it amusing.

The actual need for his stay at the Saylor household was to recover in a calm environment. Milo obviously hadn’t read the doctor’s notes, and he doesn’t abide by the word “calm.” His favorite activities include chasing balls that are much larger than him—the bigger, the better. Add to that breaking and entering: He’d take himself on adventures, walking into the neighbors’ houses to see what they had cooking! This resulted in puppy jail, so he’s now in a fenced yard.

Milo was able to learn the ropes from James, one of the greatest dogs ever, according to Tony. James was Tony’s springer spaniel, who has since passed on, and he left Milo with his best “dog wisdom.” He taught Milo how to be a good ranch dog and to communicate without words.

Tony never saw himself owning a pup so small, and great things sometimes fit in the palm of your hand. Milo’s introduction to the Saylors may have started as a silly prank, but who’s laughing now? With his little paws and big personality, Milo has found his place in the legacy James left behind.
