We opened our doors to our first set of patients (or clients, as we refer to them in certain instances) on 10 March 2025, just a few days after the well-publicised ribbon-cutting ceremony.

We started with a small dream: to provide accessible, quality healthcare to all our patients, regardless of age, social class, religion, or otherwise. We wanted a holistic approach without necessarily seeing our patients as just a number in the pool of healthcare data. The building design and choice of colours were meant to create an atmosphere of peace, safety, wellbeing, and, most importantly, trust. We wanted our care to start from the reception and thankfully, the reception and administrative team have lived up to this expectation!

The West St. Paul Medical Clinic is lucky to have grown beyond its bounds in less than two years, and we are grateful for the kindness our patients and the community we serve have shown us. We have been able to add more services because of patient demand. We are more than a family doctors’ clinic; we now pride ourselves on being a community of healthcare experts committed to keeping our clients and community in great health, in body and mind.

The clinic now boasts of three family physicians who provide continuous, long-term care and effectively manage all chronic medical conditions through a collaborative approach with community-based services like the ‘’My Health Team’’. The physicians also offer preventive services like cervical (pap) smears, referrals for FIT tests and mammograms, child and adult immunizations, and travel/employment vaccinations.

In addition to our current weekend walk-in service on Saturdays between 10 am and 2pm, we have introduced an extended-hour service on Wednesdays until 8pm, effective from October 2026. The clinic will also provide discreet sexual health services starting in October 2026.

As we grow, so have we incorporated allied health services to support primary care. This includes an in-house pharmacy managed by a pharmacist. They provide advice on compliance pack (bubble pack) medications, home deliveries and vaccination services. Pharmacists also manage minor illnesses such as urinary tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections, skin conditions, allergies, and musculoskeletal conditions.

The clinic also hosts an athletic therapist, Scott Miller, who has decades of experience treating and rehabilitating sports and activity injuries. He typically runs his clinic sessions with a physiotherapist, Sukhman, to provide collaborative, thorough care for patients.

There is a social worker/counsellor who provides counselling services as well as wellness assessments, especially for those struggling with weight loss. Her efforts complement that of the physicians in ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.

We recently introduced a foot care service supervised by a registered nurse. We understand that not so many people are able to access foot care services in the community, as it is not a typically insured benefit in the province. We know that a lot of health conditions are either a complication of an existing foot condition or the foot condition could be a symptom of an underlying illness. The nurse is able to manage several foot conditions like hammertoe, diabetic foot, ingrown toenails, plantar warts or corns and many more.

We are proud to have achieved these in less than 2 years, and we look into the future, we are open to more collaborations especially with specialists so we can a community-based healthcare system that can deliver comprehensive, quality care services for everyone.
