Auburn Parks and Recreation: August 2026 Happenings

August in Auburn brings the final stretch of summer, family traditions and plenty of ways to enjoy the season before the school year begins. The month kicks off with City Market, continuing every Saturday through August 29th at Town Creek Park. Visitors can browse fresh produce, baked goods, handmade items and flowers while enjoying the relaxed, openair atmosphere that has made City Market a beloved part of Auburn’s summer weekends.

Families can take part in a monthlong adventure with the Itty Bitty Scavenger Hunt, happening August 1st–31st. Beginning August 1st, participants can pick up a clue sheet that leads to locations throughout the City of Auburn. Each stop reveals a letter to record, and once all letters are collected, families can unscramble them to discover a secret phrase. The phrase unlocks access to a prize drawing on MyRec, with winners announced the week the hunt concludes.

As summer winds down, families are invited to enjoy one last Saturday of fun at the Big Summer Sendoff on August 8th at Lake Wilmore Park Recreation Center and Pool. This family friendly celebration features bounce houses, face painting, a foam party, ice cream and more. Guests are encouraged to pack their swimsuits and register for a jampacked, two hour session between noon and 4 p.m. Preregistration is required, and the event is free for those who live or work in Auburn.

From openair markets and citywide scavenger hunts to a lively end of summer celebration, August offers countless ways to savor the final days of the season with Auburn Parks and Recreation.
