It Is Never Too Late to Build Strength

Two women, two very different starting points, and why both paths led to the same quality of life.

The body you are living in now is the foundation for your next decade, and you didn’t come by it by accident. Your body has been listening to the way you choose to meet the challenge of life. Your habits determine whether you are compounding solutions or problems as you age. What you built in your 40s became the foundation for your 50s. The foundation you maintain and build upon in your 50s then becomes the floor your 60s will build upon. Each decade of strength training compounds forward into a body that can do more, endure more, and live more freely in the years that follow. Each decade of inactivity compounds negatively into a body that loses more and more freedom, mobility, and energy.

Ask yourself, are you building wealth in your body by investing in your future self or are you slowly burning through whatever life force and biological capital you have left, surviving until time runs out?

Christine, 75, was intentional about choosing strength at every stage in life. She spent the last eighteen years doing consistent weight training before she ever walked into BioFit, building a foundation most people her age never attempted. BioFit has helped accentuate the foundation she built in a safer and more time-efficient way. And the fruit of her life is evident: She has lost no height as she has aged, has increased bone density on her most recent DEXA scan, and continues to have the strength and energy to go out three or four nights a week for concerts or dinners with the people she loves. She describes her life in a way most people her age cannot: “My body is trained to keep up with my joy.”

But what if that is not your story? What if you did not build that foundation, or did not know it mattered until the consequences were already showing up in your knees, your energy, your ability to keep up with the people and the life you love? What if the compounding has been working against you for years and you can feel it every morning when you stand up? Yes, it is true the body you are living in now is the foundation for your next decade, but it does not have to be the ceiling for the rest of your life.

Rose knows that feeling. She walked into BioFit at 69, unable to get off the floor by herself, deep in grief after losing her husband, managing chronic knee pain with injections just to handle going up and down stairs. Within two and a half months she was climbing fences and hauling water at a horse rescue. Today, at 71, she has lost 105 pounds, she is off every medication she was on, and she hikes and dances while her friends have to sit down. “When you invest in your strength,” she says, “you buy yourself freedom.”

Rose’s transformation was not a miracle; it was her biological makeup, properly stewarded. A 1994 New England Journal of Medicine study put frail nursing home residents, average age of 87, through just ten weeks of resistance training and saw strength gains average 113 percent (Fiatarone et al., 1994). The body never stops being willing to rebuild. It only needs a signal strong enough and safe enough to build upon.

BioFit delivers that signal through adaptive resistance technology, where a computer-controlled motor matches your exact force through every rep so there are no weights to guess at and no risk of exceeding what your body can handle. An independent study conducted by the American Council on Exercise and Western Colorado University found BioFit’s approach produced 90 percent greater strength gains than traditional weight training, in 72 percent less time.

Christine and Rose started in very different places. One had been compounding strength for decades. The other had been compounding pain. Today they are living the same quality of life, strong, independent, and full of the kind of vigor that most people assume is no longer available to them. You are not too far gone, I promise! BioFit is where your next chapter starts. The only choice left is whether you dare to walk through the door. We are here holding it open for you.
