Football, Fall & Finding the Perfect Patio

There are certain things that just seem to belong together: crisp October afternoons, football on the television, good food and a table full of people you enjoy. And here in Oklahoma, when the weather finally gives us one of those beautiful fall days, it seems almost wrong to spend the entire day indoors!

October is a great month to turn a football game into an afternoon—or even an evening—out. A comfortable restaurant patio gives you the best of both worlds: you can keep up with the game while enjoying the fresh air, good food and the kind of relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Meet friends for lunch and see where the afternoon takes you. Grab dinner before the evening game gets underway. Bring the family, order a few favorites for the table and let everyone settle in. The football fans have a game to watch, while everyone else has plenty of time for conversation, people-watching and enjoying the beautiful fall weather.

And isn’t that really what weekends are supposed to be about?

There’s something especially nice about lingering over a meal when you aren’t in a hurry to get home. Maybe the game gets exciting, someone orders one more appetizer, and suddenly you’ve been sitting around the table for a couple of hours. Those unplanned moments often end up being the ones everyone remembers.

Of course, Oklahoma weather being Oklahoma weather, we know a perfect patio day can sometimes be followed by just about anything! That’s part of the fun of October. When the forecast cooperates, take advantage of it.

So grab your favorite people, round up a few friends or bring the family and make an October game part of your weekend plans. Find a comfortable spot, enjoy a good meal, cheer for your team—and stay awhile.

And if you’re looking for a place to do just that, Winter Creek 19th Hole makes it easy to take advantage of those beautiful Oklahoma fall days. With a welcoming patio overlooking the golf course, it’s a great spot to catch the game, enjoy a meal and take in the views while spending an afternoon or evening with friends and family.

After all, football season doesn’t last forever, and neither do those perfect fall afternoons. So when you get one, you might as well enjoy the view.
